Eyeglasses and Frames

We have a wide array of optical lens options to match the needs of each and every patient:

Progressive Lenses

Progressive Lenses

A progressive lens is a bifocal lens that transitions from distance to near in seamless increments. No lines are visible on the surface of the lens, so they are cosmetically appealing.

These lenses allow a patient to not only see distance and near, but permit viewing of an intermediate distance which is important for computer monitors. This is a great lens of choice for those with an active lifestyle.

We Offer:

  • Shamir Autograph digital progressive design
  • VSP Unity digital progressive design
Transition Lenses

Transitions (Lenses that change color)

This lens darkens when it is exposed to ultra-violet light (sunlight), but lightens automatically indoors. Patients are now able to have both sunglasses and light-colored indoor glasses in one single frame.

Non-Reflective Treatments

Non-Reflective Treatments

Non-reflective treatments reduce the glare that can many times reflect off of a lens. The treatment can help cut down haloes from on-coming car headlights, especially for patients with early cataracts. It can also make computer work more comfortable by reducing excessive monitor reflections.
We offer:

  • Crizal nonreflective treatments
  • Unity nonreflective treatments
High Index Lenses

High Index Lenses

High index lens materials are used to make lenses thinner. This is important for high prescriptions since higher-powered glasses tend to be heavy and appear much thicker. High index lenses can significantly improve the comfort and the aesthetics of your glasses.

Polarized Lenses

Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses help to reduce glare and improve visual comfort, contrast, and clarity. Most high-quality polarized sunglasses also offer UV protection.

We offer polarized lenses in single vision and multi-focal designs. We also offer blue-light-blocking lenses.

Computer Lenses

Computer Lenses

For those who spend extended time in front of a computer screen, computer glasses are a great option. Unlike conventional progressive lenses, computer lenses have an intermediate (computer) distance on the top portion of the lens, and a reading power below.

This allows a larger area for viewing the computer monitor than a traditional progressive lens. We offer computer lenses by Shamir.

Contact Lenses

About Contact Lenses

About Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are a great alternative to eyeglasses for many patients. At Mid Ohio Eye, our skilled doctors and technicians will strive to find the right contact lenses for you.

From simple contact lenses to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism to specialty contact lenses for patients who need bifocals, we offer a wide array of contact lens services.

A comprehensive examination of the eye is required for a contact lens fitting. This exam evaluates the internal and external health of the eye.

As part of the contact lens consultation, your doctor will discuss your lifestyle to assist in the selection of which contact lens will address your visual needs. It is helpful to bring your current contact lens boxes and/or prescriptions to determine if changes need to be made.

If a patient is new to contact lenses they will have the initial contact lens fitting, training, and possibly re-check visits. At the initial fitting, the doctor will determine what type of correction the patient needs and what type of modality is best suited.

A diagnostic or trial lens is selected and evaluated. Once the lens is dispensed, the patient will be trained on how to insert and remove the lens.

In addition, he/she will get thorough instructions on how to care for the contact lenses. Contact lens re-check visits are important in determining the final prescription. At these visits, the doctor will ensure that the contact lenses are performing optimally for everyday use.

Once the contact lenses are re-evaluated and the prescription is confirmed, the contact lens prescription is dispensed. A routine contact lens evaluation is required on a yearly basis.
