Will Latisse Work For Me?
Do you find yourself envious of others who naturally have thick eyelashes?
Have you ever thought to yourself how unfair it is that some people have naturally long, beautiful eyelashes? This may be your first thought on the days when your eyes are irritated from eye makeup, or you don’t have time to apply mascara.
There is a way with a prescription medication called Latisse. Keep reading to learn more about this eyelash growth product and whether or not it may be right for you.
What is Latisse?
Latisse is an FDA-approved once-daily prescription medication that lengthens, thickens, and darkens your natural eyelashes.
It’s a liquid solution that works by stimulating hair growth and creating more hair follicles during your body’s natural hair growth cycles.
How Does It Work?
You apply the solution directly at the base of your lashes on your upper lid, where the eyelashes meet the skin. With the included brush, you draw a line from the inner part of your lash line near the nose to the outer part on your upper lid.
It’s unnecessary to repeat the process on your lower lashes because some of the product will naturally transfer to them when you blink.
You mustn’t apply Latisse directly to your lower lashes because by doing so, you may risk getting the product in your eyes, causing irritation and other side effects.
Noticeable results can take up to two months, but you won’t see full results until you’ve consistently applied the product nightly for three to four months.
If you decide to discontinue Latisse, your lashes will return to their normal thickness as they were before treatment.
Who can use Latisse?
Latisse works for most people. As long as you are 18 years or older and have healthy eyes, you should get the results you are hoping for.
If you’re pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should wait to start Latisse until after you’ve completely stopped nursing.
You should also wait to use Latisse if you currently have any eye infections. It’s best to treat those first before starting Latisse.
Common Side Effects
There are always risks and possible side effects when starting any new medications. Latisse is no different. You may notice a bit of eye redness or irritation when starting Latisse.
When applying Latisse, it is important to take extra care to avoid any excess product going into the eyes. Being cautious of this will lessen the chances of Latisse darkening your eye color.
It is always a good idea to discuss Latisse with your eye doctor and review the ingredients. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients that are used to make Latisse, do not use it.
How To Use Latisse
Use Latisse only as directed by your eye doctor. Apply the product each night before going to bed.
Ensure that you’ve removed any cosmetics or eye makeup and thoroughly wash your face. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying Latisse.
If you must put your contact lenses back in after application, wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
Keep the applicator clean by not letting it touch any surface other than your eye. Each brush applicator is once per eye, then discarded.
This helps prevent the transfer of bacteria from one eye to the other and ensures that each eye gets an equal amount of Latisse.
Once you’ve used Latisse consistently, you’ll notice thicker, darker lashes of your own! The choice will be yours whether to wear mascara or skip it.
